		<description>I have just looked into SocialEngine and to put it bluntly it looks like a total rip-off! $250 for the base install which provides you with almost no functionality and then $30 - $40 for the extras to make it a reasonably useful site. This one is a no go.</description>

		<description>Thanks for the suggestion! I have to admit that I have not looked into that one and will look at it. My preference is for GNU licensed software mainly because of it being free and there usually seems to be more of a community in general supporting the project.

As for PHPFox I have heard mixed things about it. For sure it is one of most used from what I can tell but people have been saying the support is not that good and the fact you have to pay up every year for continuing support.

The best option would be to get a custom coded site then you would have full control over the source but then you get problems like bugs and security holes which need to be addressed which would incur additional costs potentially.</description>
