Well as I mentioned some time ago the network is shifting to new and hopefully more reliable hosting. I am carrying it out at the moment and expect it to be completed within the next day or so as long as nothing major goes wrong. As ever I will try to keep all down times to a minimum but expect some outages!

All the sites have now been moved over to our new hosting. Please report any issues you may encounter.

We will be having some downtime for the Arakkoa file server as our host is moving it to a new data center. They are not specific on actual expected down times but it will be happening sometime during the night of 29th – 30th April. Im not sure if or what work will be required to get everything going again after the move but I will be sure to keep a eye on it.

Another day and another World Of Warcraft patch. The site and server are currently being hammered by people so if you cant access them its because we are getting near 20 hits a minute! The sooner I move the site the better I think as it has been taken down once already today due to a high number of SQL queries. As for the sever if anyone feels generous and donating either sum hardware or bandwidth it would be most appreciated!

I would like to announce two new community sites for Funcom’s the upcoming MMORPG The Secret World. The Wiki can be found at TheSecretWorldWiki.com and the forum at TheSecretWorldForum.com. As with the other Wiki’s it is fully editable by anyone who wishes to do so. Hope to see you on them!

I’m noticing much bigger slowdowns recently in loading the sites. I’m fairly sure its our lousy host Servage over subscribing the servers. So I guess it would be a good time to announce that the entire network will be upping sicks and moving to a new host in the near future as iv just about had enough enduring the  lousy service I seem to be getting. I am in the process of hunting around for a more reliable host. Fee free to leave me suggestions if you have any!

MediaWiki 1.14.0 has just been released so all the Wiki’s will be taken down for a short time to apply the upgrade.

Update: I have finihed all the updates.

I would like to announce that we have just lanunched our latest site VanguardWiki.com! The site will be focused on all aspects of the the game Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Sony. Even though the game has just turned 2 years old there is still no dedicated wiki that I could find and thats where the site comes in. You will have the same freedoms on this new wiki as the others and as always if you are a player of the game I encourage you to take part in the wiki and add information about the game when you have time.

I have managed to get the MySQL dumps done and have just finished updating the wiki’s.  All seems to be working and they are now running MediaWiki 1.13.4. As ever please report any issues.

Both 9DragonsWiki and AionOnlineWiki will be brought down for upgrade in the next few hours to MediaWiki 1.13.4 which has just been released. As always I will try to keep down time to a minimum.

Update: Looks like I may not get the sites done tonight as I am having problems dumping the MySQL databases as I always do to make sure I have backups. I will get on with the upgrades as soon as I get them.

As the site has just been hacked again and I am having to wade through ever mounting piles of spam every day I have made the decision to move away from PHP-Nuke to Wordpress and a separate PHPbb installation. The lack of security in PHP-Nuke is showing recently and there is no reliable way of blocking the spam. Wordpress on the other hand is quick on the security updates and has the option of using Askimet and reCAPTCHA which will help me a lot. Unfortunately there is no easy way of importing all the posts from PHP-Nuke into Wordpress that I am currently aware of so looks like we will be starting from scratch again. The old site will be archived by me but will no longer be publicly available due to the security risk it could pose and I don’t want the spammers to be able to make any more use of it!

So there we have it I guess. I am currenty working on the move at the moment and will hopefully have it complete by tonight.
